    hello from Malaysia

    hi there.

I am a serious noob when it comes to hammock. I have been following HF for about a year (or maybe more), and have been saving up money to buy one. And finally last week, I took the plunged and bought myself, Warbonnet Traveler Double Layer 1.7oz, Bugnet and Superfly Tarp with doors.

Waited for about three weeks, with constantly bugging Brandon about the status of the package and finally the package arrived at my workplace on Friday morning last week. Totally excited.

Of course I can't wait to test them out.. and being a complete noobie, I downloaded Shug's videos and studied each one of them. Thank you Shugg. and last Sunday, I took the hammock to a nearby forest with my brother, and setup my first ever hammock. After hanging it up, noticed that the two trees were too close apart. I need another 1 foot for each side.

The tarp was really big, and unfortunately I didn't bring enough ropes/thread to tie all of them up.

    and tested out the bugnet.

I am also testing out my DIY wooden stove. It worked well, and really proud of it since it was my first try. But I will need to do some modification to improve the heat flow.

Unfortunately, I only had less than three hours to play around with my new toys. I can't wait for next month as I will be using this hammock for a one week mountaineering trip. But before that, I need to spend more time 'playing' with different setup and lies. I also can't wait to spend my first night in it....

So happy with the purchase, and thanks to all of you for converting me into a hammocker.

Welcome to the forum and thankyou for the pics. It won't take long and you'll have it set up the way you like it. Looks like you have a good fire going there.

    Dear Farizs,
Welcome, from another semi-newby. We plan a return to Japan in 2012, and if you are still deeply addicted to hammocking by then--we will have to come and see you there. In the US now, but headed out when the moment is right.
    Welcome,
    Jonathan
