    Big Mamajamba w/panel pulls (i)

Just pulled the trigger and ordered a Big Mamajamba w/panel pulls (i). I am planning an over night this New Years so I hope it comes in time.

Figured I would have to wait until next year to order but just got a rebate check so I figured I better recyle the money to help the economy.

Next I have to work on a UQ.

Plan to use with my BB first then try it with my other hammocks. As this is one of Brandons imported products I will be taking pictures and posting them.

I am recovering from a blood clot in the leg right now and it is making it hard to get out as the leg still wants to swell up after a few minutes of standing. Has really screwed up my weekly hikes and camping in the woods. Have been limited to a few hangs in the back yard but its not the same. Want to get out into the woods again.

I also just received my spinn big mammajamba last week. I can't believe how compact it is. Weighs nearly nothing.

Sorry about your leg dude. I'm three months out from a total knee replacement, and recovery is going slow. Not being out playing in the snow with my dog is killing me. Plus I can't get out to try out all my great new hammock gear. Keep a positive outlook & keep that leg elevated.

Got my tarp and the first thing I noticed is how light weight it is. I had to pull it out off the stuff bag to make sure it was really there. I showed it to a guy at work who is not into camping and he was also impressed by the weight.

Plan to set it up this weekend (along with my other tarps) if the weather cooperates and get some photos of my new toy (tarp) and compare it to my other tarps.

I always enjoyed getting out on the rifle range and sending lead down range.

Only took a week longer than planned due to rain but I was finally able to get out and play with my new tarp Once outside it took longer to set the taps than planned as my dogs (Labs) insisited that I play with them first and kept getting under foot trying to "help" me.

First thing I noticed when I got the tarp is just how light weight it is at 15oz with stuff sack. Also the feel of the material, best way to decribe it is that it feels sexy.

I thought that since I was setting new tarp, I should set my other tarps to compare. I hung one end of each tarp so they all started fron the same hanging point within a couple of inches.

First I set up my Gearguide tarp. 12 ft x 12 ft. This thing is large but heavy and at 2 lbs so I only use it when car camping. It does have lots of tie downs (17) but as is you can only set it up in a diamond shape. The stuff sack it came with is usless. Now that I have a thread injector I might have to add a couple of tie down points.

I then set up my Mosquito Diamond Fly (13 ft long x 10 ft) over top of the GearGuide. Weighs 1.2 lbs. It only has the 4 tie out points. Not as big as the Gear Guide and the material feels thick. I do like the cammo pattern which is why I bought it.

Both tarps are a diamond shape.

I then strung up my new Big Mamajamba w/panel pulls (i) over the other 2 tarps. This is an elongated hexe tarp so it is square compared to the other two tarps. A first I thought this tarp looks small compared to the other two tarps but once I got the tarp tied out and looked at it again I realized that it actually gave me more coverage where is matter, the full length along the sides. I like the way I can take this thing to just above the ground if needed or hang higher depending on the weather conditions.

Also being strung up gave me a chance to check out the stiches and corners. All the sewing is excellent, not a loose thread to be found and all the corners and tie outs are well reinforced. Figure it will take hurricane winds to tear up this tarp. Took me a couple of minutes to figure out that the small rings on the end of the tarp are for attaching the optional doors.

Can not wait to take it out into the woods
