Some interesting critters on the AT

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...111201822.html

i remembered reading on here yesterday about someone finding a camera on the trail and making funny poses infront of it.
foudn this artical today about a study along my section of the AT of the wildlife.

25% of the cameras caught bears and while the deer would stare blankly at the camera the bears would often attack it.

I think that would be a cool job... Get paid to hike in and setup some equipment, then hike out. Interesting stuff. Thanks for sharing.

That would be Coffee (Hammock Engineer) who found it while hiking the AT.

Those are some cool photo. I especially liked the fox.

There was an article in the AT magazine 'Journeys' (?) a month or two ago. It's a good magazine. Also carries a list of current corporate contributors...good for helping us support those who support what we do.

That's great. That was actually the area I saw one. About 35 miles or so north of Pearisburg. I would like, or hate, to see what the group hiking in front of me did for the camera.

I just looked at the pics. The article said that they were setup 100 yards off trail. The one I seen was definitly set facing the trail, right next to it. It would be interesting to see what uses the trails other than people.

I wonder if the one HE saw was and "official" camera or just one someone attached to a tree... say... like a hunter... scoping out the potential of the area...

I have 2 on my farm and just love it when I get the memory card home and see whats been walking by! Several deer, coons, crows, rabbits, a fox, neighbors loose dogs, coyotes and the butt end of a bobcat!

Can't go 20 steps without getting your picture taken by some hidden or not camera somewhere these days...

'Scuse me while I go put on my tinfoil hat...

Edit: not that I have anything to hide, particularly...
