How are these intended to be used?
They help hold the head and foot end of the UQ tight to the hammock body so you don't lose heat.
Like this (the "triangle thingy" is the grey/brown/black camo triangle with black grosgrain edging. This pic shows 1/2 of it, as the other half is draped over the ridgeline and not visible):

I have been playing with some of these myself. What size triangles are you guys finding work best, and do you use the same size for both ends?

    thanks

No idea if another size works better, but I made mine 11" equilateral.
Same size on both ends of the hammock.
    The work just dandy.

ok, i am feeling a bit retarded, but after staring at your pic for a while now i can't figure out how you made the last eye on the triangle (top of the picture) with two buries. i have made lots of continuous loops, whoopies, and lengths with a fixed eye on each end, but this is baffling me...

If you are using a 2/3 or 3/4 UQ, should your foot end triangle thingies be an isosceles with the base shorter than the two other verticies or would you stay with an equilateral? I would think the isosceles would give you more vertical tension at the foot end and keep the UQ snuggier.

Rjcress, thanks for that pic. I'm still new to all this and finally got my head wrapped around whoopies and UQ's and then I see this item which is technically labeled, "triangle thingies" and was scratching my head. Now I know how to use them. Oh wait, have to an under quilt first...
