Is there a customary size for triangle thingies? Or is it generally custom to each application? I have plenty of material to make some, just wondering what to shoot for.

If you are using on the GT Skeeter Beater listed as your hammock they will not really work well. They work best on internal ridgeline hammocks because they lay over the top. If you are having suspension problems with the GT try using some loops of cord attached on each end of hammock suspension. Lay the loops over the TOP of hammock ends and attach the UQ to the loops. This will pull the UQ up instead of out which is the purpose of the triangles.
just in case the dimensions were needed for a different hammock... mine are 11" equilateral triangles.
