Who cares about showers, gourmet food, using flush toilets. Just keep on walking and being away from it all.
There are times that the only way you can do something is to do it alone.
Bumping to the top
here's the location for Pilchers pond. If not enough space for cars at the pond - can park at Snake creek & shuttle folks over
To get to the pond from the parking spots is only about .8 of a mile or one can hike from Snake creek about 5 miles I think??
I plan to go up Sat morn very early - probably leave my house about 0600 (maybe earlier) takes me about an hr to get there
From Atlanta: I-75 north. Get off at Exit 317 (Resaca) and go northwest on 136. Follow 136 North for about 11.5 miles until you pass the Snake Creek Gap (Pinhoti Trail) Parking lot on the right. After you pass the SCG parking lot, start looking to the left as you go around the bend until you see Furnace Creek Road. Turn left onto Furnace Creek road and follow it until it "T"s into Pocket Road. Turn left onto Pocket road and follow it for about 4 miles until you pass the John's Mountain Overlook road on the right, start looking immediately to the left and you will see the Pilcher's Pond Parking lot. (If you see the Keown Falls parking lot on the right side of the road, then you've missed Pilchers, turn around)

It looks like the map that was previously posted is about where it is at, maybe a tad off the top of the screen from where it pops up?

The trailhead is about .1 miles north of the access road to Keown Falls trailhead parking.
From the trailhead, you walk an almost perfectly flat smooth grassy roadbed, first southeast then curving northeast, about .8 miles to Pilcher's Pond.
Once there, there is a low ridge west of the pond with multiple OK spots to hang. The ground is a bit uneven and somewhat rocky, but you could put many hammocks into the area.
