Wink The STAKE end of the tarp tie-out line

    Howdy again,
I have made some nice (if a bit too stiff) lash-it tarp tie-outs. They have a spliced eye on the tarp end, green latex tubing tensioners with zip ties securing them on double overhand knots--but as yet just an untreated end. 6~7' in length.

What is the state-of-the-art for stake attachment? What knot/splice/widget is being employed? Describe or point me to the thread.

    Many thanks!

The people I've seen using that sort of set up use a marlin spike hitch around the stake and just put it in the ground.

You could turn the guy line over, using the spliced loop as the stake attachment, then go with some sort of adjustment method at the tarp attachment - clam cleats, line locs, etc.

Here's how I have mine set up... just using shock cord instead of latex tubing as tensioner.

I use a Blake's Hitch, which is like a prussic with the running end, to form an adjustable loop at the stake end.

Marlin Spike on the tent stake THEN put the stake in the ground. I have a loop made with 10" of 1/8" shock cord on the tarp end of my 1.75mm Zing-It line.

    Simple, effective & lightweight.

I use basic, simple Shock-Cord. Just a loop tied on the end, and it keeps tension on the tarp, and holds up well in blowing winds.

I learned that trick from Opie. Adjustable from under the tarp.

Clove hitch around the stake - not trendy or high tech, but I can tie a clove hitch in gloves and half asleep.
