    Ed Speer's Hammock Book

Is it a good buy for a hammock newbie or is it the kind of thing where the info is already on the web for free?

YES! Good book; especially if you are getting it for free by ordering enough stuff!

It's a really nice book for those just starting out and those who have been at it a while. Highly recommended.

Agreed, you'd have to know what questions to ask specifically, and it would take you a lot longer to learn everything from here than from reading a book that is logically organized to lead you through the basics.

On the other hand, there are so many new topics every day here that would be impossible to cover in a single book...

Thanks for the feedback. I have hinted strongly that I want a copy of this book for Christmas. I am gonna buy for my self if I don't get it I think! Is the book fairly hammock specific or is he steering you towards his line of products?

Ed's book is for newbies which is why I got it. Ed doesn't push his gear at all IMO

Ed discusses all hammocks with their pros and cons.
He does not necessarily "steer" you one way or the other, but in the book it show you how to create a hammock like those he sells. They are VERY comfortable and I prefer Ed's hammock type to the Hennessy types (but I still love my Hennessy )

PM me an address and you can have one before Christmas for free. The last 3 times I've ordered something from Speer, I've gotten one. I gave one away and kept one. I don't need 2 copies...

For the record, Ashman sent the info and so it goes in the mail tomorrow.

I was astonished at the number of PM's I got for one book.
