HH Explorer or Expedition

Too many choices out there to discuss them all. First off an original non-out sourced black Blackbird would be my first choice, but price wise unless one falls out of the sky, and I fall into a pile full of monies at the same time, that's probably not going to happen.

I don't think I'm sacrificing too much going HH, but you don't see the "deals" on Blackbirds out there either, so that would tell me on face value they are a little more accommodating.

That said, with HH's going for 100 or less on ebay, which model is the better of the two Explorer or Expedition. Either one is going to be less weight than my tent, so weight is not an issue.

I want to attend the Brown Hollow Hang. Help me decide, or throw a BB at me for 100 bucks.

Your height and weight might help us make a recommendation.

I have no experience with the Explorer but I do have two HH Expeds.
One I modified for winter by removing the netting so I could enter from the top and adding the super shelter second layer to hold a summer syn sleeping bag for an under quilt.
The other is stock for summer bug season use. They both perform very well.

The explorer is bigger and more comfortableif weight is not an issue.

I have many dif hammocks, including a WBBB 1.7 dbl. I remain pretty comfy over all with my (now net free) HH UL Explorer ( I am 6'1", 210). So I can recommend that one of the two. Don't have an Expedition so can't compare.

I have both the explorer and expedition, and have to say for overall comfort, I like the explorer a bit better. I'm just a shade over 6' and around 210 and find that there is more than ample room for me to find that "sweet spot" of comfort in the explorer.
Like mentioned earlier, your height/weight would play a big factor, IMO if your under 6' your probably just fine with the expedition, but anything over and you will want to look at the explorer.

I have both as well but I find myself more comfortable in the explorer (deluxe).I Feel too closed in in the exp. Found my preference is roomier hammocks. Now that HH has different versions of entry, you should find one you might like.

Thanks all.

That was about what I had been thinking, from what I had been reading in here, but wanted to hear it for myself from some of the vet hangers.

I'm on the short side 5'8 165#. Sounds like I would fit the Expedition fine, but I like my room too and may just go with the Explorer, if the price is right. Ebay has a bottom entry Explorer listed presently for $81. Seems like a good price for either model if it goes for close to that. I think I'll place a bid and see what happens.
