Maybe not hooks but how about about some tree huggers made about one to two feet long or so, wrap them around each roll bar a time or two and secure with a Camp Nano 23 biner.

I hung in a relitively short space in deer camp. Taking the suspension out of the oal by passing it around the anchor, doubling back over the hammock, and clipping the suspension lines to each other worked well. For this method, whoopies are the best choice.
I haven't measured but if I had to guess I'd say its around 6 or 7 feet from my front passenger corner to my rear driverside. I have to do a couple wraps of the fabric around the rollbar, then I shorten my whoopie slings and connect a nacrabiner and then loop that around the fabric of the hammock.

I have to hang relatively high to clear my center console.

That's what I did for my kids (the less-than flat lay is intentional: these were designed to sit and read in...)

Don't care fore putting hooks on the roll bars. But i think you onto something about making a bridge hammock design. The only problem with that deign, is don't think it will work for the front. The Rear would have tie outs at two different heights. Maybe a hybrid? Gathered end on one side and bridge on the other. Sounds complicated considering the different height of attach points.

Oh and the span is 6 feet and some change diagonally.

OK, OG & Hulk, you're right, hooks on rollbars Stupid idea... descender rings, or just straps on the roll bars and put removable s-hooks on the hammock for quick and easy setup.

RE: Bridge: if the heights are different for one end, you should be able to account for that with a longer line on the higher one... This would at least be worth looking into..

agree on the hybrid design : maybe Bridge at the head-end, gathered at the feet.. Given you have 6' to play with, you'd never get a really comfortable gathered-end hammock in that space.

From a construction perspective, all you really need is some cheap straps to roll and sew into the edge of some fabric, where the fabric is narrower in the middle to account for sag, even if you could get the foot end separated a little, it would help. If you need strap, I have 1800lb mule tape... just leave the ends long so you can play with it.

Umm, well, working backwards, if you have a little over 6' to play with, a gathered end hammock that is 90" from whoopie to whoopie will have a 75" ridgeline (83%). I say, make one, and try it...get a little bit of diagonal going on, it might surprise.

It is a 2 door 2000 wrangler "TJ". The unlimited or "LJ" was not available till 2004. So its has a really short wheel base, and little space to hang a hammock let alone stretch out and sleep.

This isn't 'zackly a hammock, and he's not completely in the YJ, but this thread reminded me of this guy I saw in South Dakota in July.

I chatted with him after I took the pic. He had wrapped his climbing rope around the bars to make a makeshift hammock. He said that it was pretty comfy.
