    We should have a hammock olympics. Events would be putting up hammock blindfolded, putting up hammock in rain, (points deducted for any water on sleep surface), pitching a continuous ridgeline tarp, putting up hammock with thick mittens on, fastest from pack to hang on 45* slope, fastest to make a whoopie sling, eye splice, etc...

    Thanks for putting up this thread. I don't feel so weird now.

    I've been setting up my shelter while on hikes with the dogs in my "backyard" (forest service land I'm very lucky to have 200 yards from my front door).

    Of course I've been making new gear lately, so I keep telling myself I'm "testing" it. There is some truth to it since my places to hang at home are very short. Out in "my woods" I have a favorite set of 3 trees that let me hang at an optimal and extra long distance.

    I think I just like to play with my gear!
    Life is hard? Compared to what?
