    Mason's line

I like Speer's tarp line and bought some Mason's line to see how well it works. It's works fine, but Speers is more ridged and doesn't tangle as easily. I tried to put some silicone on it to see if it would have the same result. All it did is make it more slippery. Than I tried Coglan's seam sealer

and it worked quite well. It almost seems like Speer's line and it isn't slippery at all. I just strung up a piece and put some on my fingers while I pinched and moved my fingers along the line. I don't no how long it will last but it seem like it will work. Even if it does wear off it is so cheap you can do it again and again. I read in a post that Ed was either not going to sell the line anymore or only in large quanities. Someone can probaly clearify that. In any case this is cheap and readily accessable.
    Peace Dutch

Ed only sells the No Tangle Guy Line in 100' lengths now. 25.00 plus shipping. I have been using Mason Line for a little while now and I do like it, even though it's more prone to tangling than Ed's stuff. I have also found out that Mason Line and Velcro don't like each other. Velcro sticks to ML.

I did make a 1.9oz ripstop top cover but I haven't gotten any pics of it yet.

ed was saying at the last hot springs campout that the supplyer of the orange cord had said they would be discontinuing it.

i don't know if ed has got the last he can get from them or not.
he did mention the possibility that the supplyer could have a similar replacement for the orange cord, but that was just a guess.

i used to use mason line regularly & some of the negatives i remember was that it seemed to double in weight when wet, the tangle issue, & yes, if it got against the velcro hooks, they would have to be riped apart<g>.
    but it is cheap.
I too will something make and joy in it's making
