and hang'in now with you'll. Got my WBBB 1.7 double and my superfly from Brandon for Xmas. Set up the hammock and tarp last night. 34 degrees with a Northface 20 degree bag. Buttocks got a bit chilly but other than that, I believe I was good. Can't remember, I fell asleep.


On the double WBBB what pad would you vets recommend for cold evenings?

I have ordered the CCF Brandon recommends. Haven't received my BB or CCF yet so I can't comment on how they go together but I have to believe Brandon has checked out many types of pads and would not recommend something that did not work.

Thanks. I will read on that and yes, I believe you are right about Brandon not recommending something that he feels would not be good advise. Brandon has been nothing but stand up on all issues and emails we traded on deciding on what hammock to get.

When you do get your BB you will simply just be amazed.

I use a Wallyworld blue waffle pad in my BB. It weights about 15oz and is about 24 inches wide cost about $16. I have used it down to low 30's

any width you want, as long it is less than 48 or 72 inches. Also check out the Volara foam on the same site.

If you get 1/4" you can double it for Winter and use just one layer for when >50° but <70°.

TW, Pads will work but underquilts UQ's are more comfortable for most people it seems. You can experiment with different widths of potential underquilts by using any old rectangular sleeping bags that you or your friends may have around or get one from wal-mart for 10 bucks. Just leave them zipped up and slide them into the sleeve of your hammock. They will compress somewhat but the synthetic fill will still give plenty of warmth. You can then gradually go wider by opening it up to experiment for what you may need and also try a single layer of thickness for warmth. You can read all about it but you really gotta find out for yourself. A full tapered sleeping bag with synthetic fill will give you some warmth from sides and below and allow use of a bit less underquilt.

For instance, I made an UQ from an $11, "30 degree" bag that ended up being 54 inches wide by the original 75 inch length. I just like to be sure that my shoulders won't get out of the warm area. Most people get by with less width, as evidenced by all the 42-48 inch wide UQ's out there.
