    Christmas day creations

For learning how to use snowshoes at the MN Frozen Butt Hang, I made a pair of 24" tall, Chippewa style, leather and canvas mukluks with mil-surplus wool felt liners and 3/8" wool felt sole inserts. They are toasty, and ultralight!

I also made a Gutter Nail Wallet for keeping track of the dozen 8" nails Kayak Karl sent me!

Smiling Face gave me a Kindle! I plan to take it into the woods, so I'm wondering which of these to get? I'd also like to get one of these.

    For me:
    Golite shangri-la 2
    Benchmade Impel

    For the boys:
    Petal tikka2 xp headlamps
    Spyderco dragonfly2 folders

    For the three of us:
Icebox igloo tool. Currently have a 10' diameter igloo about half done as we ran out of daylight yesterday. Fun!

I got a new Mora knife and a Soto torch (lighter-powered one). I am excited to use it for winter camping coming up soon.

P.s. I know you read and hear about people raving, but the Mora is by far the sharpest knife I have bought or have seen out of box.

Thank you! They are ultra simple. I made 'em straight out of The Snow Walker's Companion, to fit the wool felt boot liners I found at a mil surplus store.

Thank you, too! I gave Thing1 the edible plants book by the US Army... she'll undoubtedly have that with her every time we hike.

Should'a named it the Gutter Nail Rollup!
