    xmas day daytrip

I hadn't been out much this week so was determined to go somewhere. I thought i would go up the mnt behind my place, Perry Ridge, and stop at one of my lunch spots and then head back. For this i'd need snoeshoes on so i took them along till i got to the top of my land partners driveway, put them on and headed up the mnt.

I have to say its been 4-5 weeks since ive been going up the mnt on a regular basis, snow makes it so much harder, and i definitely had lost my edge. I was breaking trail in 16" of powder and moving at a snails pace and i had too warm of pants on and was sweating like a pig . Have to wear my river pants next time. Another shot farther up.

I got a little ways up the mnt near one of my lunch spots and said "good enough", sat down and cooked up some Black Bean soup, Man i forgot the Focaccia, still it was good. Rested for a while and headed back down but not before seeing this,

That made my day. Lynx tracks coming straight up the hill . Elk tracks all over but this guy was after rabbit .

Been may years since I have seen a Lynx

(Lyng: as the northen 1st nations (native) pronounce him)

They are an illusive and when seen: Majestic.

My only Lynx sighting was in the Slocan valley. Got within 20' of it ,absolutely beautiful.

Would you believe there is a guy in our area that raises Lynx and sells them to whoever can afford/legally own them. In TN you can own a Lynx but you cannot own a bobcat. At $1200/cat I cannot own one....and after seeing the size of their paw/claws (seriously the paw is as big as my head) I don't think I'd want to have one. He won't sell them until the front claws are de-clawed. I asked why, he said say you are in the rocking chair and accidentally rock back on the cat's tail, with the front claws the cat can kill you too quickly just reacting to the pain! This cat's head is almost as big as mine too and the eyes are huge. Def. a beautiful animal.

I like them for their Ears,
    Sideburns, and snowshoe feet
