I didn't realize it would be a full moon/ near full for the weekend.
might have to bring the yaks after all.
I wonder how a full moon paddle adds up to a bio luminescence paddle....which is super cool but very creepy at the same time as that eerie glow surrounds everything in your path.
Hedgehogs! Why can't they just share the hedge?

Yeah, I think we should all show up for the Florida Trail Conference in March and infiltrate the campground with kind intent! White Springs is where it was the last time I went. It's a really nice campground and HUGE!it certainly seems that this is just the first of many.
Just checked...the conference is in Leesburg this year, just below Ocala!

Yes, There will be campers and tenters but our mission would be to subtly "Elivate their Perspective" of hammocks! Hint Hint....
We were in a camper in White Springs and allowed a couple of through hikers to camp in the tent spaces since we weren't using them. There's always a way!

And please consider an occasional hang south of Orlando for the few of us (or is it only me?) who live in South Florida. It's about an 8-hour drive for me for this hang.
I've done a very easy backpacking into Prairie Lakes with the Sierra Club. It's part of Three Lakes Wildlife Management Area. Ab. 1 hour south of Disney. No problem finding trees to hang from.
Cost is free, but you need to get a permit.
While I'm at it: here's my latest acquisition -

this is only for public campgrounds.
I hear you sandykayak. Almost 5 drive hour for me. I don't mind. Kind of nice getting into some cooler climates once you're geared up for it.
I've found the Fisheating Creek to be a very good spot for overnighting. Not so much the hiking, but kayaking, canoeing and hammock hanging lots of good times.
I'm sure during this first Hammock Group Hang, there will be many talks about future group hang get-togethers. Start making a list
I wouldn't mind heading south a time or two. We are just beginning to explore real Florida. We aren't hikers though, we prefer to kayak/camp.
Hey Islander, do you think a chickee in the everglades could support a couple of hammocks? I've been wanting to make a trip down there and maybe paddle around Hells Bay for a day or two but I'm not going if I can't hang.
