    Triple Layer Hammock?

    Has anyone tried (or even heard of) a triple layer hammock? I saw in another thread that someone was looking to do a double layer hammock and cut on weight. At 200 lbs, I'm a bit on the upper end of a 1.1 Double. A 1.9 or 1.7 double would actually weigh more than three layers of 1.1.

    Just so everyone can figure out what I mean:
    2X1.9= 3.8/yd; 2X1.7=3.4/yd; 3X1.1= 3.3/yd

    I imagine there is a reason why triple hammocks are not being used. I just thought I'd tap the group knowledge base to see why.

    Creative thinking. Another option would be a 1.7/1.1 double.

    Wisenber.
    Warbonnetguy made a triple BB for one of our members. Hogg tyed, IIRC.
    2 layers 1.9 and one layer 1.1.
    So it can be done.

    The 1.1 double-layer is rated for 275 lbs, isn't it? And the 1.0 DBL is rated for 250, if I'm reading Brandon's specs correctly.

    Are you sure that you need a third layer?

    Warbonnetguy made me a triple layer black bird about 2 months ago. I had tried Hogg Tyeds and found that for bigger guys (I’m 602 290 lb) it makes for a very flat lay. I have tried a few other styles rated for around my weight and found that they had a little stretch that made them not as comfortable for me. The three layer hardly stretches at all and is very comfortable for me. It also gives me a little relaxed feeling knowing that it aint gonna rip out on me.

    The weight limit is 250, but max flatness is 200. I'm right at that "max flatness", but I'd have to kick my dog out of the hammock when we're backpacking to stay under it.

    How do the "Maximum Flatness" figures compare with being "perfectly flat" on a plane would be 180 degrees. What does the 200 refer to? Just curious.

    200 pounds is the recommended weight for "max. flatness".
