Best tent stake for frozen ground ?

So the ground has finely frozen around here and I am having a very tough time getting my cheap bishops hook stakes in the ground without bending them.

What's the best hammock tarp stake to use in this situation?

if weight is not an issue a 60 penny nail works.

I use MSR Needle Stakes.

I've used Vargo UL titanim nails in those condition.

Also, sometimes the easiest solution is to tie off to big rocks (or make a rock pile on your line which is tied to a stick in the rock pile) or tie to trees or downed logs.

If there is also snow on that ground, a buried stick with a loop of line (that can be retrieved without digging up the stick) works very well.

I haven't had much luck with anything except steel spike type stakes into hard frozen ground.

I like my MSR Groundhogs. They're strong and have a pretty good grip. They tend to withstand a piece of wood as a baton as well.

i use a rock or heavy downed tree branch, or a tree trunk, when the ground is frozen

I like SMC snow stakes (providing there is snow )

I attach a bright cord to the top so you can find them later, and when used as an anchor, tie the loose end to the pointy end of the stake.

Bury them horizontally and pank the snow down over it. Let them sit for a short while so the snow can consolidate. Attach the guyline as shown. after a day or so, you may need a shovel to get them out!

I would have to agree with Mad and Wags. If your stakes won't go in the ground, then put your steaks on the grill, and find trees, rocks ect. to tie off.
