    New plastic hammock concept [Gizmodo]

Check this out... not sure how much this one weighs, or whether you'd be able to fit it in a backpack, but ... here's the concept.

Doesn't it seem like the laws of physics are being thwarted here, or there's an optical illusion, or a dwarf under the hammock? I can't make out why this should be level. Figure the guy must weigh at least 40 lbs more, their centers of mass are approximately the same (if anything, the guy's is further towards the edge). The thing ought to be tilted. The dwarf is pushing up underneath on the guy's side to make it level. That's the only explanation

Maybe their butts are really resting on the ground?

That's getting close to a 'suspended cot' if the plastic is rigid enough. Compare it to this http://www.abledata.com/abledata.cfm...discontinued=0

I love Gizmodo. Thanks for the link. Interesting concept for sure. Could also double as a snow sled, so it's multi-use.
