    BMBH Spreader bar question

I have the older, silver spreader bars on my BMBH. If I remember right they were rated to 220lbs or so. I'm pushing those limits and have noticed the following (bear with me as I try to explain). The slit where the hammock's outer rings fit in the spreader bar, right where the rings rest (at the very bottom of the "U" slit in the bar) the metal is bending inwards. Due to the tips being covered in...whatever that black stuff is, I cant see if the bars are cracking. I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this. I realize I could order the new bars from the jacks which are rated higher but I would like to save the 30ish bucks if theses bars are ok.

If you really want to be able to inspect for cracks the "tool grip" black stuff can be scraped off with a knife...

FWIW, the new speader bars are far superior to the original models. Thus the higher rating of 275 pounds.

    Stronger Eason alum pole parts.

    Higher compression force capability.

Insert connector vs earlier swedged insert... Thus.

both end rotate freely even under compression to match the minimal flex when entering or leaving hammock and thus reduces torque to the notch sides.

They will not bind up at greater compression force.

The female end will not bell out thus split risks are eliminated.

Notch is end milled with a round bottom vs original square bottom for more even distribution of both compression and rotation forces.

    Stealthier color...
