Aaaaahh yea . . . although I've read others commenting on it,
may not have thought of it tonight.

    Clark top weather shield...
I'm kinda new to all this high tech hammock gear and I have not looked into all the different manufacturer yet but I have to say your Clark weather shield looks awesome.

As I am in my backyard tweaking my hammock for winter use I am constantly tripping over all the ty out lines there fricking everywhere. And I am thinking to myself
"There has to be a better way" !
Now this morning I see your rig and go WOW! somebody has done something about this.

Well . . . I kept it closed last night
I slinked down into my bag more and breathed warmer air.

Look around here, and then decide how much you would LOVE one.
Most all of us Clark owners, do just that, love it.

    Report:
    Second Night
I just realized that I can say,
"I have spent every night this year outdoors in my hammock" Tee Hee

The hang was the same, and I started out with the same synth bag,
but I dressed down, as the first night I was far to warm,
so night cloths are as such, T-neck w/long sleeves,
light insulating winter vest, Dakota driWear™ long johns,
and a pair of daily socks.
One surprising note, the synth bag is only rated to -5°C or 23°F
Yet the temp was -13°C or 8°F and with this small amount of clothing,
    I had a very comfortable sleep . . . well til 3:30 when I had to spell relief . . .
I took this opportunity to comparatively test my -5°C syth bag against my down bag which I don’t have a rating for,
as the manufactures tag has been removed.
The down test was very interesting:
I felt definite cold spots were my body pressed heaviest,
ie, shoulders, and my cute little tush
(I wasn't suppose to use my wife’s descriptive,
oh well if she reads this, I'll take the punishment)
but the parts of my body that pressed less,
and the top of me, as I lay on my back only,
was just over the edge of sweating . . .
    NOW That's weird . . .
As my kidney was chilled, I had need of spelling again,
so I swapped out the down for the synth bag,
and finished the wee hours in comfort again.

    Conclusion:
    1. Sleeping in my hammock out doors in the winter, is an old winter camping reality, enjoyingly renewed.
(In my tent 25+ years ago, I called it "Constantly Camping")

    2. If the Z-liner, and DIY pads, and the weather shield,
lower the temp rating of a -5°C bag to -13°C
Then a -18°C bag that I am looking at getting
should get me to at least -25°C and maybe to my goal of -30°C.
And if not the -18 inside the -5 will for sure. I would think.
But around here to really test that out it would need to get to
    -20°C at home elevation,
then I would have to climb the mountain out back
to reach an elevation that would give me those lows.

I am not sure I am as I sit right now, mentally prepared for that . . .
    . . . but when the time comes . . . if it is not on a work night . . .
    . . . I will force myself to go . . . and then enjoy . . . or Die
