Opal Creek was my first thought. It's somewhat central as far as Oregon goes. I know there are at least two really great sites for several hammocks. The hike in is easy and not very long, and you can make a loop of it and stroll through the little community of Jawbone Flats (complete with a composting toilet for those who haven't yet mastered the unassisted poo with a view.)

Eagle creek can be awful crowded on the weekends, but it is gorgeous.

Welcome to the forum John and justradar! I would love to do it at Opal Creek if everybody is ok with it. I guess we'll have to take a vote or something.

I might be able to make it to this hang depending on date and location. Mt Hood area is awesome. I spent a lot of time car camping there in the 80's and 90's. Lots of lakes and streams and trees...

I'm from Eugene and I'm down. I just finished my first hammock a few minutes ago and am now working on the tarp!

Yeah, me too. Were pretty slammed at work so I'll need a few weeks notice as well. Whats everybody thinking? A winter hang? Spring?

I don't see anyone from NorCal here yet so I thought I'd invite myself. (Actually, I'm from the state of Jefferson. I'll bet there's very few people on HF that know just how close we were to having 51 states. I was told that Pearl Harbor was bombed the day before the first votes and Congress reset its priorities.)

Most of my hanging has been around Mt. Shasta. Are any of you thinking about a Crater Lake hang?

Opal Creek and Mt. Hood both sound good to me (I've been to neither).

Regarding the question of season... Winter really isn't much fun unless the site is above the snow line, so it would be a shame to have a winter hang in a place with no snow. I wouldn't mind a winter hang, but I'm probably biased because I've been stocking up on down filled stuff.
