    Amsteel with clips?

I picked up 3 of these 25' lengths of rope at an Army Navy store near me. It was an interesting type of rope and I couldn't resist the price at $3 each. Then I realized it was amsteel so I had to get them but I had no idea what the clips were used for. I asked the guy at the Army Navy store but he hadn't a clue what kind of rope it was and said it was the first time he'd seen anything like that. That was good news for me and had this been about 2 months ago, I too would not have known what amsteel was.

The clips are about 1.5 inches long, spaced every 12 inches and are threaded in between the strands. They're just plastic and spring back to their normal shape (somewhat) after spreading them apart. I removed a set from one 25' length because I wanted the amsteel for my tarp ridgeline and could care less about the clips. Anyone know what they were for?

I had some netting that had some amsteel on the finshed edged, however it didnt have clips, it was stiched in place. Perhaps his was used in connecting large sections of netting together?

    clips

You are correct. They are older style "quick clips" for tarps, mosquito netting, quick cover, ghillie suits etc.

It is the rope used to connect 2 or more camo nets together. It is used on the older style camo nets. I have played with it many times in the last 20 years. I always thought it was nylon or something though.
