    Well, we don't use Zepplins much any more, and it never was widely adopted even then. But it is a great bend. In smaller cord I find the slipped double sheet to be both easier to tie and untie after heavy loading. The Zepplin can be tied slippery as well, but it is much more complex than the others when doing it this way. My rule for small cordage is that the knots MUST be slippery or exploding; too hard to get at that small stuff with my fingernails and bad eyes!

    I used the Zepplin Bend to join a piece of 1/4" cord to mule tape yesterday and ended up having to cut the mule tape because the knot was so tight. I think the Zepplin Bend is great with cords of similar diameter. Otherwise it's a pain. It could've been me too, though. It was my first time using that knot.
