What tree distance are people using for their traveler. I've been using trees 15-20 ft apart and cant seem to get slack in my RL with out the hammock being on the ground. Mabey its my angles, tree distance, Brandon had some great suggestions that I am going to try, and no way no how am I giving up on the traveler cause I loved sleeping in an open hammock and know its just a matter of learning how to hang it correctly so its comfortable for me.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

llr - Ridgeline slack & tension is determined by the angle of the suspension. If you can't get slack that means your suspension is too flat. Move it up the tree so the angle is steeper.

good Suggestion I did use my hiking poles to push the suspension straps up the tree as highest possible. But in a funny way as much as I want a good lay in my traveler I love the part about hommocking that is all the tweaking and playing around with 2. I move into a house in a couple weeks and have two perfect trees to hang from and do all the back yard testing I wan. I did find that the higher I pushed the suspension straps the more I had to loosen my woopies. O well back to the drawing board

yeah, at 15-20 feet you need to connect pretty high up

So I took the advice, tried a couple of thing like having trees be 11-13 ft apart lowered the suspension to about 6ft and got a much better lay. Still not quite perfect but much much better, just wanted to say thanks for every one input I knew I loved my traveler just had to find the right sag on it. Bringing the trees closer together def helped and gave the RL much more sag and flexibility which also reduced hyper extending my knees as well. More testing and updates to come.
