How often do you get out hammock hanging?

In review of this last year I realized I achieved my goal of backpacking more in 2010 than any previous year. Still, I probably made it out on overnight (or longer) trips about 50% of the time I would have liked to. This year I'm going to try and get out even more.

I'm just curious, compared to how often you would like to get out camping how often do you?

Never as much as I'd like.

I think I'm OK. In the last 10 1/2 months I've been either hanging from backpacking or paddle camping every other week with two multi-week trips thrown in.

I hung about 35 nights this past year. I'd be happiest (I think) with about 90 days per year, but with my teaching, that would require pretty much every break I have and a huge majority of weekends. I DO like actually being home with my wife from time to time also, so 90 nights is pretty much out.

IF I got to hang (backcountry, not backyard ) 364 days a year, I still couldn't vote 100%

I too get out more now (past 4 years) than anytime previously, but each trip just makes me want to get out more. I'm finding that is all I think about anymore.
When you have a backpack on, no matter where you are, you’re home.

I go probably every other month now...I think I could probably get away with once a month and still keep the family balance.

But I'd like to be a professional thru-hiker...know anyone who's hiring?

I find the same is true for me too. I've been reading a lot of "outdoor" books and like to watch shug type videos to help fill in the gaps of when I can't get out...but it just makes me want to go even more. Sad thing is I have a ton of new gear I bought this summer in preparation for a fall full of camping which never happened.

I set a goal to get out once a month even if it's just an overnighter. So far I've been able to reach that goal, but I put down 25% - my ideal would be to spend at least 4x that much time out in the woods
