Do you have a link to this poly foam?
Or do you know the type, thickness or weight?
I have both the Hammock Gear Phoenix and the JRB No Sniveller. I would recommend anything from Hammock Gear or any of JRB's wearable quilts.
Sounds like you have the skill to make an UQ, but I wouldn't argue with momma. Any of the venders here make excellent UQ and you can't lose. WHat is your price range and what is your temperature range?

I'm interested to know what foam you bought.
I've seen IX, and the foam doesn't look much different than the thin packing foam that was wrapped around the TV I bought my wife for Xmas.
I'm planning to try some various thin foams for insulation layers to insert into my DIY fleece & Nylon UQ soon.

It looked a lot like the stuff TVs are wrapped in.

Came in a 25' roll by 48", cost about $20.

So have you given up on your DIY quilt? What isn't working? Any picts?
You said it failed. How? Have you tried it yet? Your first post seems that you haven't tried it. Looks may be deceiving.
