Need Help- Family Vacation Planning(East Coast)

    Hey All,
Starting to plan our Summer vacation. We usually went west, but this time it's looking like we might go east.

Thinking on going up to Upstate New York to Acadia Natl Park and then down the coast to around Boston and back home from there.

This is car camping, so I was wondering what is your favorite campgrounds to drive into say in the Adirondacks, Maine, Conn., New Hampshire, and Penn.

    Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I know its further south than you are considering but If you get the chance, drive down the Blue Ridge parkway. Lots of trails and camping opportunities

Good choice! We did the same thing about 10 years ago and had a blast. I believe we stayed at the Smugglers Den campground in Bar Harbor Maine.Lots of things to see in and around Boston. One of the best family vacations we ever had.

Done a lot that. About as far south we might hit is Shenandoah Nat'l Park.

    Thanks. I'll check it out.

The kancamagus scenic hwy in the White mountains is a must see. Lots of Quite camping, all along a beautiful mountain river with lots of swimming holes. This is a bit further north than Acadia nat park but worth the drive. One of our favorite family destinations.

That is an area I would like to hit. Any favorite campsites?

+1 on the Kanc; maybe hike in a mile or two in the Pemigewasset Wilderness.

In the Adirondacks, I loved car camping with my family at Fish Creek Pond and at Rollins Pond, but haven't been there since the 50's. We rented a rowboat every year - great for exploring. Canoes would be better.

I wish. But wife is probably going to be having knee surgery and I think I'll have my mother-in-law with us.

jigger johnson's is were we stayed last summer. A self serve gov. campsite that is very well kept with very remote feel. Our site had a trail straight to a swimming hole on the river. There is about 10 different gov. sites along the scenic hwy so any would be a great choice.

I own a place on the Kancamagus Hwy butting up against White Mtn Nat. Forest near Conway, NH. It's a playground for campers and hikers!

But, Acadia Nat. Park is one of my most favorite places on earth!!!

You can't go wrong with either, but why not do both!!
