In an attempt to recharge my Paypal account after the beating it took over the holidays I need to unload some items. Up for grabs is yet another one of those good ideas that never quite made it into my regular gear pile.
This is an "Ecotat" military issue sleeping bag. It's a center zip style with a full hood rated to 0F (10-15F more likely). This has a few unique features I thought would make it perfect for hammock camping. Since I'm trying to get away from car camping I just can't quite deal with the weight.
This bag can be unzipped fully to make a big quilt. It also has a velcro flap and head hole so it can be worn like a poncho or "coat". The "footbox" closes with a large drawstring arrangement. This was originally set up for soldiers to sleep fully clothed with their feet hanging out the bottom so they could hop up at the first hint of trouble. My idea was to put the bag on standing up, sit down in the hammock, then draw everything in. This works great. Main reason for selling it, weight!!! See the specs below.
These are actually made by Wiggys and are basically a center zip version of the Hunter Super Lt w/hood. Check out the specs, warranty, and laundering instructions.
Weight...6lbs
Stuffed size 10" x 21" (compressed, maybe down to 14")
Length 90" (minus whatever you use to tie up the footbox)
Width 31" approx
Retail Price $275 (Wiggys) $300 (Ecotat)
Price today: $75 + shipping
If there aren't any takers I'll try and bring this along to the FL hang in a few weeks. Maybe some of our car camping hangers will want to take a look.
