FOUND: Winter Weather Shield for WBBB hammock

    Ok you DIYers.
I am looking for someone to make a breathable winter weather shield.
For a Warbonnet Black Bird hammock with Winter Phoenix 3/4 UQ.

Designed similar to the HH Supershield but out of breathable nylon in either 1.0 or 1.1 weight.

I would like to use this shield in windy winter weather in hopes it will reduce heat loss from the UQ. I already have a burito top cover so I am not really looking for a sock.

I would attempt this myself however the last time I used my wifes thread injector I broke it, DUH! costing $150 to repair.
I am no longer allowed to drive the thread injector. lol

    OutandBack,

Would you consider a weathershield necessary if you have a decent tarp with doors to cut the wind with a low pitch? Have you tried this out yet?

Just tryin to save you some money and a little weight if you already have the tarp (your tarp sig says many).

    Hi Raul,
    My current tarp list is:
Kelty 12 very heavy very large to pack. I only use this for car camping.

OES Delux- which is my winter go to tarp.
Not really interested in a door kit. I get kinda claustrophobic in a low hung tarp.
IF the sky is clear I prefer to use no tarp at all for the evening view even when windy.

HH stock Asym tarp- No way for winter. Just not enough protection IMO.

I typically set all my tarps up so I can stand up in them and usually do a porch on one side.

I really like my HHSS and use it year round. The one thing I don't like is it's water proof. Not really needed for snow.
So I would really like my new WBBB to have wind protection like the HHSS but breathable.

OK a weathershield would be a cheaper option for you if you dont want to pony up for a larger tarp or get Grizz beaks for the OES Deluxe.

    Another option:
Use the stock hennessy tarp under your UQ as a wind break. The asym design matches perfectly to the hammock.
    Tip: Dont compress the UQ.
    I ride a recumbent.
I like to HAM it up on the CW.
    I use Linux.
    I play go.
Of course I sleep in a hammock!

    Tarp's are waterproof not breathable.
If I wanted waterproof I'd just use the HHSS on the WBBB

breathable is very important to me.
I don't want to deal with the condensation issue a waterproof weather shield
    has.

    How about http://www.mollymacpack.com/new.html...

look at the IX Hammock Sock without SEEP. I plan on using the one with SEEP on my WB Traveler.

    Hi Law Dawg,
Thank you for the website and link to video.
Only being a HF member for a couple weeks I have not had the chance to visit all the vendors that support our hobby.
mollymacpack.com looks like a great place.

The IX Hammock Sock without SEEP is very close to what I am looking for just without the insulation.
I will contact mollymacpack to see if they would be interested in a custom order of IX Hammock Sock without SEEP without insulation.

Just a thought, 2Q&ZQ make a UQ protector out of Sil, but you might get them to make one out of different material.

I too am a iterested. It's hard to find 1.0 or 1.1 ripstop in OZ.
Breathable would be a big +
And I have the exact same hammock and UQ.

If someone makes two, I'd been keen on one and the OP could have the other.
