At the moment I only have enough 1" webbing to make one set of straps plus enough for 1 replacement strap. Why a biner? I just like them in the system.
Hey, y'know - different strokes for different folks. For me, quickness and convenience is worth a few extra ounces. For others, it's not.
Besides, it's these differences that keep us all coming up with new and interesting ideas!

Ewker- two long straps are used on a lot of hammocks- it's the speer system and I'd guess most used for DIY hammocks.
It IS a pest to adjust, though. One time to get it right to get those fast set up times.
But hey- what's two minutes?

Most adjustments I do are getting the hammock centered under a tarp when I first setup. The hammock will also stretch a little so I like to go back and re-tension everything right before I lie down for the night so my but isn't dragging the ground. Other adjustments may include raising or lowering the hammock's support placements on the tree.
caught me, Ewker. I still manage to tie up the hammock wrong first go and have to readjust- I usually go too tight. Man I need a ridgeline. I just can't visualize it first go- and this is in the backyard, where I've tied it up multiple times!
But when I get it right- man is it sweet!
