I don't know what it weighs (not much), but one of our sales guys carries this:

I just went and asked him about it when I saw this thread because I remember him showing it off a few months ago. He manually made the alarm go off and I just can't imagine sleeping through it. You'd have to drill a hole in the cover, or use very thin filament to loop the hinge in order to hang it from a RL. Might take about 2 mins to mod it.
    Trust nobody!

I like this and Coglan's also has some models that have alarms.

The birds chirping usually works just fine for me.

But, as long as you're up, make some coffee before you hit the trail. Just leave it near my hammock. I'm sleeping in

I never drink water. I'm afraid it will become habit-forming.

Wear a digital watch, they all have alarms on them or set your cell phone alarm.

Is everybody trying to be politically correct by not mentioning the "Indian alarm clock" (drink lots of water before bed)?

been woke up by Reveille ... 1st time got me up quick. After that I can just lay there & listen to it.

I usually use the most annoying ring tone on my phone. drinking water before I go to sleep usually works before the alarm

Goto a truck stop and grab a 'Screaming-Meanie". Most are digital, run off of 12v car battery + a 9v backup. Most have a large button on top to turn-on the light so you can read it at night. Very light-weight. It is VERY loud. You will not sleep through it. You won't have any friends left if you sleep with a group. Consider yourself warned.
    I ride a recumbent.
I like to HAM it up on the CW.
    I use Linux.
    I play go.
Of course I sleep in a hammock!

I hope you camp alone cos others might not appreciate a loud awakening.

Which reminds me....we were camping on an island and someone asked me (since they know I'm an early riser) to wake them up as they had breakfast duty.

I have this cute talking alarm clock with a rooster option.
So I crouched outside their tent and set it to "COCK-A-DOODLE-DOO"

Then I heard one of them say, "Did you hear a rooster?"

Mine folds and is ab the size of a deck of cards...there are several types here:
