Summer TQ material options

I'm slowly venturing into the realm of DIY gear (have sewn off and on for years), and one of the projects I would eventually like to do is a very lightweight Summer TQ. Just thinking about materials right now, and I'm curious what you all think about using Momentum 50 vs. Momentum 90 (ignoring the price difference and current lack of color choices) for making a down Summer-in-Arizona TQ. I would ideally be using it in my Traveler in conjunction with a partial bugnet in temps above 50F, so my legs would need to be covered at all times so I don't unintentionally donate blood. Oh, and I'm an UL backpacker, so I do love to count the grams

Any experiences and advice?

The momentum 50 will be fine (if not frugal) and remember that you wil be using it at night so the gaudy orange shouldn't bother you

For light insulation & ease of contruction, I would use about a 1/2" of synthetic insulation such as Climashield XP at 2.5 oz/sy.

If I decide to go with the 50, then I will probably wait to order until there are more colors available, that orange might blind me during the construction process!

Given your criteria, and that you're ignoring the price, then you HAVE to go with the M50.

And it's LIGHTER, too

I unintentionally excluded down. I love the stuff, and it's my 1st choice for most of my trips. IX would work too.

1. The OP said "slowly venturing into DIY" so synthetic is easier.
2. In quilts this thin, I personally would rather go with synthetic because down is going to shift unless the baffles are about 1" apart, like Patagonia down sweaters, and I'm not willing to sew that many lines of stitches

But, there's nothing like a well made down quilt

Thanks for the input! I do like the idea of an easier quilt project with synthetic, but I may just challenge myself to do down with this one. Plus, it would pack up really, really small. Maybe I will make one of each
