Me too. I like to pull the fur flap down over my eyes and nose. I dream about breathing ice cold air conditioning.

I just take my jacket and pull it up over my head. That way it's also warm in the morning when it's time to finally get out of the hammock.

It's my nose that freezes. I've found a buff (mine is merino wool) around my neck can be pulled up over my nose and usually does the job. A neck warmer works the same way. Recently I used my down coat as a pillow and it wrapped around the side of my head so I covered my nose with it and stayed warm.

Doctari's idea sounds interesting. Might make a 'surgical mask' out of a light fleece for that purpose...

I don't like my ears, nose and face cold either. And I don't like fabric stretched onto my face or stocking caps. So I like to use a poncho liner draped over my hammock to get a 10-15 degree warmer cocoon. It fits really well and leaves no substantial openings. I prefer to wiggle into sleeping bags for colder temps because I can cinch the hood down and control the size of the hole, and sink my nose and cheeks below the opening and breathe warmed air. For really cold temps, I line my bag with a PL and use one thickness of the PL to cover the "blowhole". That gives lots of versatility for covering or ventilating head, neck, face, etc.

I don't usually have too much trouble with my face freezing, unless it's way cold out. I can usually get the hood of the sleeping bag over my head with just a hole for me to breath out of. It it get too cold for that, I just throw something light, like a shirt or something over my face. Anything heavier and I feel suffocated.

Unzip my mummy bag and use it as a top quilt. Then I flip the hood over my head and it keeps me warm, however, I haven't been down to freezing temps yet. I've taken my thin balaclava before but haven't had to use it.

I find balaclavas too restricting on my breathing and the moisture build up super annoying. I use the neofleece face mask
