I use my military poncho liner. Its big for this purpose and I just keep it loosely piled around my head. Keeps it warm with out feeling restrictive.gunner76

I have a merino wool neck gaiter (aka, buff) that I can pull up over my nose as others have suggested. This works great for me. From the top side I have a Black Rock down beannie that I pull down over my ears. If I need any more warmth, sometimes I pull my top quilt up and drape it partly over my face as well.

Dont you woory about excessive moisture from your breath getting the top quilt wet?

That's certainly a possibility. I keep it loose enough over my face to prevent significant moisture accumulation.

Is that one of those neoprene ski masks? I have a few of these around the house that we use for skiing, but always seemed heavy for a pack.

I'd be worried I'd wake-up with a prune face , but it would keep you warm for sure.

I have a polar fleece face mask .... and a light stretch fleece balaclava. Finally got used to it over my mouth.
In frigid temps I wipe the condensation off right away with a small camp towel.
