I was out shopping at Joann Fabrics today pricing materials for my first diy hammock and noticed that the ripstop felt and looked much thinner than the sport nylon. My question is which is stronger the ripstop or the sport nylon. I asked the clerk and she did not know if the ripstop was 1.9, 1.7, or 1.1. I am 6'2" and 265 lbs so I need something strong!! Thanks for the input

i believe that there ripstop is 1.9 and the sport is heavier yet.
What he /\ said. I can also personally attest that that sport nylon doesn't make a very comfy hammock. Much too thick and stiff.
