Need some direction

Fine folks,

I have owned hammocks now for a little over 6 months. While they are supremely comfy for relaxation purposes, I can't sleep in them worth a darn. Now to be fair, I can't sleep an entire night in one.

I have three, two chute style and one Brazillianesque. I am also a husky one at 6'5"-ish and 308-ish

They seem to be too narrow for me to get real comfy like. What I'm trying to avoid is buying hammock after hammock to see which works best. I understand hammock brand preference is a personal choice akin to shoe brand or pack style, but can anyone help me out?

Is the bridge really the best way?

Do I need to spend a fortune to be comfy?

Will the Bears win the Superbowl?!

What does "Brazillianesque" mean?

I suspect what you want/need is length vs width. Camping hammock, right?
Few people that describe themselves as "husky" are comfortable in the current Bridge designs. Usually, due to shoulder squeeze. They just aren't made with the wide shouldered person in mind. Mule (I think) made a pleated bridge hammock that sort of made that issue moot, but I haven't heard anything about it in a long time; don't know if the back-side testing didn't work out or what.

Those triple sized hammocks are silly kinds of wide, but I'm not sure that's going to fix your issue. Might just have to suck it up and start heading out to some hangs and try some other rigs. Of course, there is always the DIY route. I'd really focus on length if you build your own.

Find some wide material 64" wide or wider.
11 foot long will/should do ya..

Just for thoughts, What are your present hammocks dimensions?
And how tightly do you hang them?

If I pull my hammocks too tight, they are miserable. Let em sag (like a gangsta's pants),

What does "Brazillianesque" mean?

Brazillianesque is my weak attempt to describe the woven hammock with string ends. Not as woven as say a Mayan, more like a cloth material but breathable.

I measured my chute style and it comes in at 102" x 50". I would assume that by most standards that is small for anyone let alone a biggun'.

Now I hang with as much slack as possible. I can get diagonal-ish, but too much and my head or feet fall out.

Will a longer hammock let me get more diagonal? I could only assume the extra width would as well.

I do plan on making it to the Florida hang to see what is out there, but I'd also like to hang there instead of tent it

The ENO- double might be worth a try @ ~59 bucks.
I use one on my deck for afternoon naps.
Tons of side material so the asyn position is quite easy.

A DIY gathered end hammock to your specific dimensions would be best, IMO.
Very easy to make. Just follow one of the DIY videos here on HF.net.

I second the ENO double, that or a Grand Trunk double. Both are supremely comfortable. Of course, I'm a little guy (6-0/240).

TFC Rick....I'll be at the FL Hang with my Switchback (and I'll take the Trek Light double)...But I may end up sleeping in my camper if it's too cold.

I was thinking of maybe selling the SB (used twice and in perfect condition) and possibly getting TTT's lighter version. I'm 5.0" and there's way too much fabric in there for me.

I paid $180 for it, what would be a fair asking price?

PS I also want to try out a WBBB!
