    Simple WhoopieSling Question

Im a noob, so this is a simple question, but one I can't seem to find the answer to.

Tell me if my assumption is correct.....

When a whoopiesling is being used, the hammockers weight squeezes down on the open core outside, holding the inner bury in place...

I'm trying to decide which suspension is right for me and my new HH Expendition.

    Thanks!

    Robert

Yes, that's exactly right about the whoopie.

Thanks AngrySparrow - I appreciate the quick response.

After setting up my HH in the basement yesterday for the first time I can see the huge advantage. Lashing the Spectra line is a pain.

Can't wait to get my Amsteel from the group buy

Remember, it's important to milk the line over the bury after adjustment to ensure effective constriction.

No, no , no that's not how it works at all. First you need to know the hangle, then you hafta know the gravitational forces of the mass involved (you don't need to worry about the Coriolis effect or centrifugal force - yet), next comes the coefficient of friction between the two (four really, but whose counting) opposing forces on the constrictor and the bury. Then throw in a ridgeline and that adds a whole 'nuther set of equations!

You will never be able to use a whoopie sling until you understand, fully, all of this! Also, you should be able to show the math on a whim, from memory, without using a calculator.

Rat! You forgot about the differences between the tension on the standing end between dynamic, static, and minimal load!

RWillieK, in addition to what Rat and JCINMA said, you also have to be able to have comprehend and have a conversation with Grizz about quantum mathematics and be able to recite word-for-word all of Shug's vids.

    now we're talking!

In popular versions of quantum mechanics one talks about Schrödinger's cat (indeed my son whose trail name is "quantumcat" has a feline named Erwin. A she cat, well, a doctored she cat, but that's just part of the uncertainty principle in practice).

The hammocking corollary with respect to whoopie slings might be called "Shug's grip". Put a whoopie sling and Shug in a box chilled to -26F and does the whoopie grip???

I think the more important question is, "Will Shug still sing?"
