    Great source of accessory biners

I just returned from a trade show. Most companies that had booths were giving away little branded items of some sort. Most were pure junk. However, I emerged with a few goodies:
    -SS water bottles with mini-biners
-a variety of small items that had mini-biners on them.

Most of the stuff with biners was total junk, so I liberated the biners and abandoned the junk (not environmentally friendly, but most of this type of give-away ends up in the dump anyway. at least I found a use for part of it). I now have a handful of very small, very light biners... none of which are remotely load bearing, but would be good for little things like attaching an underquilt, hanging a light from the ridgeline, etc.

You never know where you'll find useful stuff.

Oh heck yeah! garage sales & thrift stores.
I'll buy an item not cause I want to use the item
but because I want to reuse the material for a DIY project

    Roger that!
I was bounced onto a blade forum the other day and someone was gloating about the carbon steel knife they scored for a dollar at a tag sale; I've seen plenty of kitchen etc knives on the 25cent basket at 'estate' sales- after the family divvies up the shiny new kitchen gear, there are good finds for the knowledgeable amongst the blackened/junky knives..

I also freguent trade shows and conventions for work and they are always giving away samples and branded widgets etc... I recently attended a show and on the last day one of the booths was dumping a bunch of extra samples so they would not have to ship them home so I came home with about 20 ea. 2'x4" wet wipe style towel. Fragrance free and individually packaged abount the size of a checkbook.

I have also on occation seen small biners w/ key chains attached etc... Free stuff is the best.
