    Dropping in to say Hi!

Looks like I should have done this years ago. I use my hammock for archery elk hunting. I find it so much more restful than sleeping on the ground. Is also more convenient to find a hiding spot amongst the trees than a flat spot. My hunting partner decided he had fomo so bought one too. He has a love hate relationship with his hammock though. My only complaint is the weight penalty over tent camping. Ill post some pics if I can find them. Hope to hear about your favorite hammock uses.

Welcome from Texas! I've not used my hammock for an overnight trip hunting yet, but I have hung it to take a nap between morning and evening sessions. I find it lot more restful than just leaning the seat back in my truck!
    Good luck and be safe!

Welcome, always nice to see another Washingtonian! I'm confused about a weight penalty vs tent camping, that must be one pricey tent...

    Welcome to the party, pal!

I think you will find that - like most things with backpacking - there are ways to lighten your setup by spending lots of $$$. My lightest hammock setup (straps, continuous loops, ridgeline, soft shackles) weighs in at 0.41 pounds (6.5 ounces; 185g; $103), whereas my lightest tent weighs 1.13 pounds ($540). Of course, I have to add my tarp weight to make it a true comparison, so my lightest tarp weighs (with stakes, stuff sack, etc.) weighs 546g (19.3 oz; $415). So, all in, the tent is still lighter, but the weight penalty is negligible.

Comfort trumps weight in some cases.
Depends on the season, hammock set-up and what tent and pad you did use.

Shug is great. I watched a ton of his videos along with Dutch's when I first getting setup.
