    Can you sew reflectix?

I want to make a freezer bag cozy and I was wondering if I could sew through reflectix (possible with grosgrain trim). I might also back the outside with 1.1 oz breathable for a squint more durability. Thoughts, ideas, experience? If I back it should I use silnylon instead?

    Thanks again guys...

I wouldn't think sewing through bubble pack and mylar would be a good thing but you can sew through Insul-Bright to make a freezer bag cozy. The nylon on the outside might help keep the poly material from coming apart too.

Nope. I just go around all the edges to prevent separations.

I bow to Running Feather's experience, but have to ask - why not just use duct tape?

the hvac foil tape that lowe's sells works fantastic with reflectix. I like it better than duct tape - I don't say that very often

I have to agree with MrTiles..........the aluminum duct tape that Lowe's/Home Depot/ect works great on Reflectix. I have made coozies for everything from tupperware containers to FBC cooking. That and a roll goes a long way.

IMO I would use the tape. While I don't know that much about reflectix I think tape would give you a cleaner more workable joining. I don't like the idea of seam allowances on a pot cozy. But that's just my aesthetic opinion. Non-wovens can be tricky to stitch, but as others have done it successfully I am sure it is possible.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I've been using the aluminum tape so far, but it is heavier than the reflectix. I'm going to try sewing a cozy for my water bladder. Thanks, RF!
