    Underquilt length

I am getting ready to attempt my first DIY IX underquilt project, I am thinking of making it full length so I dont have to carry any sort of pad with me for my feet.
My question is how long to most people make a full length UQ?

I think most people make them around 6" longer than they are tall.

Most of the commercial full length under quilt offerings are 78" long or 86" long if you are rather tall.

However ChrisH's suggest of 6" longer than you are tall is a good starting point.

If you are making it rectangular and lay diagonal rather than banana, full length is actually a little shorter than you are tall. I'm 68" tall and my DIY UQs made at 58" easily cover me head to toe.

jbo, how wide is your UQ? Seems like you would have to lay at a pretty severe diagonal to make it cover.

Good question. 48" which is wider than many.

That gives you a 75" diagonal. Works fine for me.
