Jeff's site is awesome, I was looking there but couldn't find the ridgeline section - thanks for pointing that one out.

For a hammock ridgeline you want something that first will not stretch, as the stretch will change the hang while in use. Second you want something that is rated to 400 or more pounds, as at least your body weight will be applying force to the ridgeline and depending on the hang angle possibly even more than your weight.

I think this is one of those "How long is a string" questions... (pun intended )

I'm not really sure what detail you're wanting to hear opinions on (sorry...)

    Some things to consider though:
Use cordage that won't stretch much.
Use cordage that is strong enough or make sure you always hang at near optimal angle
Use a temp. ridge line until you figure out what your rig's optimal hang is for you (hang your own hang) - then make it more permanent.
Consider a removable ridgeline (soft shackles etc.) for using your hammock as a chair etc.
Ask lots of questions here cause these folks have likely tried it already and can save you some time (and give you new food for thought!)

So, as it really hasn't been said AND because I'll have a bit of it and nothing else till I order and get it in. 7/64th Amsteel would work for a structural ridge-line? But you could get buy with quite a bit less strength?

Were I looking to add or replace a Hammock ridgeline, I would go with one of the adjustable ones offered by vendors here. Maybe make my own someday but adjustable for sure.

    Maybe look here... http://arrowheadequipment.webs.com/a...s/show/1452521

7/64 amsteel would certainly work, but it is well stronger than needed. BB's used to come with a 7/64 ridgeline, now Brandon is using something lighter.
