I've been plenty warm down to 20F with the Jacks-R-Better (JRB) Mount Washington 3 Convertible (MW3C), a Rocky Mountain Sniveler and just jeans and a T-shirt.
Here's how I do it;
Above 50F I use my MW3C in 2/3 mode as an under-quilt (UQ) and a Eureka 60F biker bag as a top-quilt (TQ).
Below 50F I use my MW3C in 2/3 mode as an under-quilt (UQ) and my JRB Shenandoah as a TQ.
Below 40F I use my MW3C in full mode as an under-quilt (UQ) and my JRB Shenandoah as a TQ.
Below 30F I use my MW3C in full mode as an under-quilt (UQ) and my Rocky Mountain Sniveler as a TQ. I also sleep in my long-johns and wool socks.
Below 20F I use my MW3C in full mode as an under-quilt (UQ) and my Rocky Mountain Sniveler as a TQ. I also add a layer of fleece to sleep in.
Below 10F I use my MW3C in full mode as an under-quilt (UQ), a Therm*A*Rest pad and my Rocky Mountain Sniveler as a TQ. I also add a down vest and drawers, a fur hat, a wool scarf and shearling chopper mitts.
I have gotten down to -1F and I was plenty warm. I'm a warm sleeper so that helps. I also keep a knit cap in the hammock to put on if I get cold. With my 3 quilts and 1 pad I'm covered in all temps.
I have a winter black mamba my self and it is crazy how warm it is.
but then I have a hammock gear uq. so if i cant make up my mind good luck with making up yours. p.s. just ordered my summer top quilt from hammock gear so I dont know they all rock.
