oh wait a minute I bet they were talking about the FS building area - and yeah I had heard of that but you could park across 16 from the FS building

well she didnt really get in to details i guess where ever the overnight parking is at lol.

I can't come. Bummer. It would have been a good chance to test the PeaPod below 10*. or to really put the SuperShelter to a real torture test. Of course, weather is always unpredictable.

BTW, I just read where Kirkwood ski resort in the Sierras has gotten over 120" of snow in the last 48 hrs, 132" total out of that monster storm so far, and are looking for another foot overnight, with gusts of from 50-75mph, and 0-10*. Now that would make for some interesting tarp camping!

Not much I guess. I usually don't get cold, can sortof tell when it is cold out, but not like a "Normal", my boss wears a jacket when in the amb in the summer calling me a "D*** Homesick polar bear".

Wish you could come visit.

who did you call ? If you did not call the Grayson Highlands state park call them instead and specifically ask about access to the backpackers parking area.

I have been thinking about making the trip. I will have my brother and my hiking buddy with me if I do come down. Both are ground dwellers but my hiking buddy does have a hammock and has used it on a warm overnighter.

We have not made a destination yet so I'll discuss it with them and see if we can make it.
