    Hello from Louisiana

    Hi all,
I've been lurking for a bit and thought I'd register. My son will be crossing over to Boy Scouts soon, so I'm trying to get up to speed on gear.
I'm very interested in acquiring a hammock system, quite possibly making one myself. Anyway, just wanted to say hello to all.

    Happy Holidays,
    CajunHiker

Welcome aboard, glad to have you with us. Once you hang you can never go back, you understand that, right? Just kidding. Hammocking is a wonderful way to get a lot more comfortable in the outdoors, hope all goes well for you. Glad you joined the "cult".

Yes there is a Cajun Hiker that posts a lot over at backpacker.com. Lives near Baton Rouge.

Sipsey = Sipsey Wilderness in north Alabama. A lot of hikers from Mississippi and Louisanna come over to hike there.

    I'm in the Covington/Mandeville area.
Sipsey- I went on a climbing/camping trip somewhere in N.AL. back when I was in college. Couldn't tell you any names though.

Thank everyone for the warm welcome.
