Day hike down the Suwannee River

Not too much to say. It was a chilly morning (by Florida Standards)...roughly 40 degrees give or take. I suppose that'd be considered balmy to you northern dwellers. Anyway, hiked in a little over 8 miles, setup the tarp and hammock, cooked some lunch, read a little bit, rested the legs and eyes, then headed back out. All total, it was just over 16 miles out and back.

Nice pics! One of the few places in FL where you can get some steep elevation changes.

Dave I'm really bummed I couldn't make this one. I want to hit this area with someone who knows where they are going. Perhaps we can set up a small group one in the next month or two?

Maybe talk it up in detail at the Florida Hang this weekend. I like to GET-OUT at least once a month. So long as I don't have 100% tree cover, the GPS helps keep me on track.

I'll bring my FT thru maps to the hang. I have the Suwannee Section, along with a few other sections. There're great for planning!

No doubt. I was pleasantly surprised by that. You could have probably setup camp anywhere along the bank as well...lots of good trees.

I'll probably be doing this section of trail again, it's just too nice not to. I'd like to do a 3 or 4 nighter, but I don't think I'll be able to do that until the fall.

It's almost impossible to get lost. Find trail head...find blazes (they're bright orange)...follow accordingly.
