    best uq/tq synthetic??

Hey guys, i have been itching to make my own tq and uq, but im not looking to pay a whole lot, but i can pay a bit. What is the absolute best synthetic insulation for an uq/tq besides ix?? I would use IX, but it is too darn expensive to ship! i was looking at like climashield, primaloft 1 and sport, and maybe down if i could find it at a reasonable price. I searched the forums and i could only find half-answers, but nothing definitive.
    Thanks,
    Dan

"Best" is subjective. Describe your anticipated lows, and where you're going, and whether it's important to you to have something light and/or compressible, or not. If you are looking for cheap and easy to make synthetic makes more sense; if you are willing to put in more effort for something compressible, longer lasting, lighter and you can afford more $, down starts to make sense.

Climashield is your best bet when it comes to Synth

you can get down cheap from stormcrow only $6.50 an oz
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold

You're in Maryland right?? Not that far from NC and from where the IX ships from. Shipping shouldn't be that much, like about $10 or so. Maybe less if it goes into one of those prepaid mailer boxes from the PO.

If you tried to order IX from the web site, there is a major glitch in their shipping calculator!! You have to CALL them!!! (I couldn't get through on the phone, so I e-mailed them and told them I wanted to order IX and my phone number, they called me back)

    Dandeman:
Not trying to knock the IX or down from Stormcrow, both are excellent products, but I notice that you are looking to make a synthetic UQ and TQ. Have you looked at the DIY kits from Paul at Arrowhead Equipment. I have made two quilts out of his kits and have been to the upper 20's with no problems. The kit comes with everything you need to make a quilt, I mean everything!!!!!!

golite has syn topquilts that look to be spec. with their down quilts. Not sure about the fill quality, as I have no experience with them, but with the 40off coupon they have going, pretty hard to beat.

here is the coupon code if anyone needs it:
