    great job on the traps. making my own straps was my first diy project as well. i really over did my sewing though. (4-5 overlaps)

    Nice job. I couldn't bring myself to make my own straps, so I bought some straps from Habor Freight and cut the buckle off. They are yellow, which should help keep me from leaving them on a tree.

    A link to a caving-based DIY story?

    I have searched the HF forums, but I cannot locate the link to a brochure about making DIY slings for caving. There was info about real-world testing performed on various stitching patterns (X-box, linear, bar tack etc).

    Anyone have that link?

    Thanks, Jim. That is the one that I was referencing. I've looked several times and can't seem to find the darned thing.

    I just searched through my bookmarks I had and came up with nothing I do remember the article passing through HF...hopefully someone bookmarked it and will chime in sooner or later.
