1.0 or 1.1 single layer gathered end hammock-will it be work ??

Just about to order some ripstop.

We can buy 1.9 ripstop locally or I can order 1.0 or 1.1 online.

I have made a gathered end with 1.9 and it's great. Just wondering if I made another from 1.0 or 1.1 if it would be okay for my weight.

    FYI, I'm 5'10 and about 77kgs (170lbs)

I have my WBBB for most camping trips, the DIYer's are just for naps at home and lounging through the day while away.

I have a Single 1.1 made from fabric purchased from Sclittlefield http://backwoodsdaydreamer.com

I'm 220# (100kg) and it works great. I love the feel of the 1.1 fabric...

I've been going back and forth with Scott at BWDD and in addition to his invaluable knowledge, he did pass along that a 1.1 single is fine for up to 180 with hardly any stretch. The more weight, the more stretch but as John states, he's #220 and loves it. I'm just about your weight pig.slayer and I can't wait to make a 1.1 hammock. By the way, my 8 yards of 1.1 gets here tomorrow! In the immortal words of Shug, "Whooooo Buddy!"

If I had to do it again, I'd go Double Layer, but it's still comfy...

I run about 180 and I'm just not quite comfortable using a single layer of 1.1. It would probably hold me, but there's too little safety factor and too much stretch for my tastes.

So......when I started my new DIY single-layer last week, I looked to Backwoods Daydreamer's new 1.5 ounce ripstop. I've only done test hangs in the backyard so far, but it seems to have very little stretch and is very comfortable next to the skin. I judge it to be a keeper

i have used 1.5 from BWDD multiple times, and ive made 4 hammocks out of it. It is a great compramise between the strength and weight of 1.9 and 1.1oz. Also, he has by far the best prices i could find, and a wide range of great deals in the diy store at BWDD.
    Thanks,
    Dan
